Employee Spotlight: Scott Felix

What kind of work did you do before Steele? I attended IU in Bloomington, and then I worked in retail for about 12 years. I moved from retail to Aflac after my kids were born and I worked there for five years. I really enjoyed working at Aflac and I met a lot of the Steele team, but I was ready for a new challenge. I joined the Steele team three years ago.

What does a typical workday for you look like? I really like that my days are always different. In retail, it was a lot of the same, so this is great. I may do computer work, take clients to lunch, get enrollments ready, chat with brokers, and everything in between. I am constantly learning new things here and trying to put the puzzle together.

Do you have a favorite Steele memory? I really enjoyed our Florida trip. It was fantastic to hang out with everyone and get to know them on a personal basis.

Outside of work, what kind of hobbies do you have? I enjoy woodworking. I have done several projects for members of the Steele team. I have made an array of items from kitchen tables to bathroom vanities to a mud bench. I started when my kids were little. I made small things and now I just keep building on them.

What is an interesting fact few people know about you? I know how to solve a Rubik’s cube. One time I solved it under two minutes. Not a world record, but good for me.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be? I would like to be able to fly, so I can get there quickly.

If you went to an island where food, water, and shelter were provided, what three items would you take? iPhone to stay in touch with everyone, a speaker to listen to music, and a TV.

What is the most daring thing you have ever done? Taking a leap from a salaried position to a 100% commission job.

If you had a warning label, what would yours say? May contain alcohol.
