Talk to us about your professional background before Steele. What kind of career did you lead? I was retired and I was bored. I had known Wes for a while, so I asked him if he had anything for me to do. I love insurance. I’ve worked in it for years.
What does a typical workday for you look like? Right now, we’re planning meetings with the customers. I’m getting feedback on how they want to change things for this year. Touching base, to make sure everyone is happy and to see how I can make their lives easier, and their enrollments go smoothly.
How would you describe your role in one sentence? Trusted advisor to our customers.
Do you have a favorite Steele memory? So far, my favorite thing was when we brought in a special item, broke out into teams, and discussed why it was special. It was a great way to get to know my coworkers better. They are a great group of people. Everyone is very dedicated and working toward the same goal.
Outside of work, what kind of hobbies do you have? Gardening. I love gardening. Flowers. I have a huge yard, and I love working in my yard.
What’s an interesting fact that not many people know about you? I have five sisters and a brother.
If you wrote a book about your career so far, what would you title it? Why? How You Can Love Insurance. I find it fascinating. There’s always a job in insurance.
What celebrity would you like to meet at Starbucks for a cup of coffee? Jimmy Buffet. I adore him and was heartbroken when he died. I’ve probably been to 30 of his concerts.
If you had a time machine, would you travel to the future or back to the past? Back to the past. I would go back to when I was in my 30s. Time goes so fast. I didn’t realize that back then.
