When and how did you get involved with Steele Benefits?

When I graduated college in 2021, I saw Steele hiring a Systems Implementation Specialist. I applied, even though my degree is in Finance. I enjoyed talking with Katy and decided to go for it.

How has your role evolved since then? I started out helping build the enrollment platforms (cases) and I’ve since been promoted to a System Architect. I am now one of the case builders.

How would you describe your role in one sentence? I build cases from start to finish and manage any issues with those cases throughout the year.

What does a typical workday for you look like? I start by going through the ticket sheet and updating my cases that may have any issues. I might work with the different platforms and carriers to make sure we have everything set up correctly. I make sure the system is functioning the way it should. We do build cases throughout the year, not just during the fourth quarter, so I may work on one of those as well.

Are there any new skills or insights you’ve picked up while working at Steele? As a college graduate, I knew little about the insurance business, including terminology, coverage options, and accident plans. Since starting at Steele, I have been immersed in insurance information and know much more now.

Do you have a favorite Steele memory? I enjoy going to Steele Night every year at Victory Field.

Outside of work, what kind of hobbies do you have? I’m a big golfer. I go as much as I can.

If you had a warning label, what would yours say? May Contain Alcohol

What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done? Skydiving. The first time I ever flew in a plane was so I could jump out of it. I was not hesitant at all. It’s so much fun.

What would you sing at Karaoke night? When It Rains It Pours by Luke Combs. I’m not a country fan, but I like this song a lot.

Do you have any irrational fears? I’m scared of snakes, but I don’t think it’s irrational.

What part of the driver’s test are you most likely to fail? All of it. I crashed during my first driver’s test. I took it in February and the roads were not great. I got nervous, slammed on the brakes, and slid into another car causing a little fender bender.

Who is your most embarrassing celebrity crush? Julia Louis-Dreyfus

What’s the silliest way you’ve ever gotten an injury? I was playing golf and wanted to see how hard I could hit it. So, I swung hard, and I pulled a muscle in my neck. I couldn’t move for three days.
